Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers and forward Michael Beasley were fined repeatedly for minor violations of team rules during their rookie season, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. Coach Erik Spoelstra said the fines were not for major violations of team rules.

It would be interesting to know what the violations were. I've heard some teams have rules for rookies, like carry the veterans bags, etc., and are fined if they don't.

The more interesting article which mentions Chalmers and Beasley is the one Tim Reynolds of AP Sports wrote. Although the article is about the Heats effort to retain Wade, some very positive things are written about Mario Chalmers and Michael Beasley.

Wow, that was a pointless read. I thought maybe he did something during the playoffs that got him in trouble. But his repeated violations during the season certainly didn't cost him the starting job in any one of ths 82 regular season games, so nobody in the Heat organization must have even cared.

Thanks for the link, 63Jayhawk. I enjoyed the following part of the article where Coach Riley was asked about the team fines levied against Beasley and Chalmers:
Riley did not discuss those in detail, but said most of the problems were cleared up very early in the season.
"After that, they realized how much they valued their money," Riley said.

It's called being late for team meetings and practices. Happens all the time, especially with rookies.

Since we are talking mario, here is a good article to read about his future in Miami:

Priority #4 and #10 talk about Mario and make it seem like he and the other young Heat players are going to have a tough summer!
