The only bad thing that may come out of this: in addition to the 5 seniors, we lose 3 underclassmen to the NBA and our coach. If he's wanting to go, it might make sense, the cupboard will be relatively bare (by national championship standards) and he left us with something that will make it very difficult for us to hate him for if he were to leave (ala Larry Brown).
The only thing that makes me think Coach Self might not want to take the OSU job is that its in the same conference and it is a step down in prestige. But money talks and I think his comments after the game says that he is willing to listen.

I certainly hope that Self does stay around, but on the other hand Kansas has a deep bench and will be okay if he does leave.
If Self does leave for his alma mater, you have a great person who can step in who has Kansas as his alma mater. Who is already familiar with current KU operations. Who has NBA experience. Who won an NCAA championship himself. Who was an assistant coach when a team won an NCAA championship. If Self leaves, Kansas would likely have Danny Manning as a coach.
I'm certainly not advocating Self leaving and hope that he doesn't, but Kansas will still be in a pretty good position if he does.

I think that Bill Self will get a heck of a raise and I think that he will stay at KU.
I really hope that Chalmers comes back, but I guess at the same time... depending on where he is projected in the draft it could be good for him to go. I don't see him as a lottery pick even after a huge game in the Conference Championship and The Shot last night. I don't think he's got the measurables to be a lottery pick but if he's projected in the second round I think he should come back. Because he can get into the first round .
I know I'm dreaming, but if he, Arthur, and Collins, and Aldrich were all together next year we could make a run for back to back titles.
I saw the picture of Mangino from last night and it was just a picture of his face, but it looked like he may have lost some weight. Any word from Lawrence whether or not the man is making any big effort to shape up?

that's crazy! Manning has only been assisting for a couple of years.
Turgeon would be a prime candidate.

Which is more crazy? Danny Manning or Mark Turgeon? I say you're BOTH loopy as heck.
I doubt Self is leaving, but if he does, neither of those two gentlemen will get much more than a sniff...and shouldn't. One has absolutely no experience, while the recruiting ability of the other is still very suspect. At Kansas right now, you need to have both.

I'm surprised that the Spodcasters think that Self might go to OSU rather than face a semi-rebuilding year here. What in the world do you think he would face in Stillwater--and lots of luck recruiting top kids to play there. It is a building job that would take years. All he would get out of that job switch would be a lot of money, and I have trouble thinking that would be his motivation. All I've heard him say he wants from Kansas is "years" not dollars. I have to think he will get whatever he asks for.

(With all the seniors leaving, and Rush and Arthur)
- Cole Aldrich
- Markief Morris
- Travis Releford
- Mario Chalmers
- Sherron Collins
I would say thats pretty good. And don't say "well, Chalmers and Collins are gone," I think Collins stays for sure, and Chalmers probably will declare just to gauge his status. We'll get them both back. And we all know what a beast Aldrich is, and Releford is a smart basektball players (plus all the physical talents a guard needs). Morris I don't know much about.

I agree with your starting 5 trich24 except I expect Little will start over Releford. As far as Mario he'll test, but this draft is extremely deep and he could easily not be a 1st rd pick.As far as Sherron hes not going anywhere,he needs to show he can stay healthy, and cut down his tos.We wont be as good as this season, but we will be solid.
