Most religions do have an important message to deliver. As an atheist, I do respect the right for a religious person to share their opinion, believe, pray, etc. I just wish they would stop trying to convert me.The religious athlete thanking God for his ability seems to make sense to me when I try to put myself in their shoes.... Listening to a jock thanking God for a win has always bothered me..even when I was a kid. As I got older, it always seemed to me that they must have been taught to associate anything that felt good with God. Coaches blaming themselves or the players for losing and praising God for the win is a much more interesting topic of discussion from my point of view.
