I am going to try and make this a regular thing the day or two after a KU game.
I loved...
...watching our three freshmen on the floor at the same time. That's a legitimate lineup at the D-1 level.
...watching Elijah Johnson jump.
...seeing X spark the break by getting his hand on a pass, then diving on the floor for the loose ball and finding the correct outlet.
...the freshmen in general. BTW, all three of those guys are big for their size/position. They all have NBA ready bodies.
...Tyshawn's aggressiveness to the rim. He has his slither back.
...Sherron looking very much in control during this game. He never pressed himself, just played his game. Hit open shots, shut down a Hays run with a couple of transition threes, and managed the game.
...Thomas Robinson's tenacity. You can't box him out because he doesn't want to be boxed out. Some rebounders get rebounds because they get position. TRob gets rebounds because whether he is in position or not, he pursues the basketball.
I hated...(or really disliked)
...TRob's fouling. I love his pursuit of the ball, but he has to learn how to get position with his feet instead of his hands.
...the sloppy ballhandling. We threw away more than a couple of positions with just horrendous passing.
...the defense. Although its hard to hate something that was at times non-existent.
...the amount of fouls called in this game overall. It killed the flow of the game. It seemed like there were 100 foul calls (actually 51). KU shot over 40 FTs. A whole restaurant fouled out (Five Guys). Just ridiculous. Of course, with their depth, KU can withstand that better than most, but it makes the games less fun to watch.

The game was not Kansas bball. To many "Look at me" kids out last night. Pass the ball at least three times. And feed the center!!! Cole needs to get a touch every poll...

easyfive,
Stop hating on this team...It was the first game of the season and you're already griping...Leave it to Self and other people who know basketball more than you do to criticize the team...It's obvious that you're not very well educated in basketball...You dont have to pass the ball 3 times a possession and Cole certainly does not have to touch the ball every possession either...This team has so many weapons that the ball may not get tossed around 3 times a possession...I do think they tried to force the issue at times but like I said it's the first game of the season.

Hey sutton.... it would be good practice though for later in the season when it DOES matter to run the offense through Cole... Like up 2 1:15 on the clock in Mizzou... when all they have is Ronald MacDonald and Shawn Bradley left guarding cole..... That's the last time and place we wanna see X pull up for a 19 foot jump shot..... however, it seems his patented 19 foot jumper is about 50-50 so i might be willing to see him take it..... Knowing that Cole will get the Offensive rebound if he doesn't trip over Ronald's clown mocassin's or Shawn Bradley's ceiling in getting the put back

You're too used to what happened last year...Im saying that this team has more talent and every possession does not have to go through Cole...Certainly against teams where we have an advantage down low I will want the ball to go through Cole but we have more weapons this season and I want to use them as well.

• KU needs to get Aldrich more shots. Self thinks a different way, though, in that instead of more shot attempts, KU needs to get Aldrich more touches. He needs to have double-digit shot attempts each game.

See I disagree with that...I think it depends on how Cole is playing because some games last season Cold Aldrich showed up to play sissy basketball...Im willing to give him double digit shot attempts as long as he is dunking the ball any chance he gets otherwise no I dont think he should get that many shots.

Dude,
Cole is the star of the team! ...I hope Bill got the three min. passes rule too.
Cole did not have a bad game last year. What's up with you?

He did have some bad games last season did you not watch any of the games? How about the loss to Tech last season where he went 1/5 from the field...Or the game at Airzona?
The minimum pass rule was made up by someone who never played common day basketball...There is no rule as to how many passes there has to be. If you get an open look and its a good shot then you take it.
Cole is a star but he is one of several...I dont think this team has just one star.
